Just a photo taken last year. Why I keep it.....don't know.
Great shot of the old and the new; really like the rain-on-the-window effect. I have the exact same outfit; FE2 with motor-drive, but my DSLR is the D750. A Nikon SP would round out your "through time" photo.
It looks like the film camera has a motor drive. From what I recall, that was rather pricey, and you had to send the camera away to have it installed.
Jerry, Nikon produced and sold the MD-12 motor drive (or battery grip) for all the FM and FE models. They easily mounted on the bodies. I had one o my Fm2 and FE2 bodies back in the '70s.
Is the motor drive possibly a 3rd party product? There were 2 Nikon drives for the FM/FE series cameras, the MD11 and MD12. That motor does not match the shape or configuration of either.
Shot with the FE-2 MD-12 combo as a newspaper reporter/photog in the 80s and 90s. Very dependable, lots of Pg. 1 photos. Still operable and has value, but looks pretty cool on a shelf. Mine has a black body. Currently using the D-7000, predecessor to the 7200. And ALX is right, drive on FE-2 is aftermarket.
I can't part with my Nikon FTN even though I will never shoot film again. It was my first Nikon "real camera" and what addicted me to making photos. It will be disposed of when I pass. Until then, it reminds me what started my interest in trying to be a good amateur photographer.
