Canon Macro 100mm 2.8 USM with Heliopan UV Filter--$325

Very good condition. I bought this used and the person said they never took off the UV filter. I took it off when I got it home to clean the UV filter and put it back on. I used it only 4-6 times and it just sits in my bag. Supposedly great for portraits, too. (I know the UV filter isn't the greatest, but that's what came with it. )

Superb lens and a very favorable price!

If I didn't already have one, I'd be very tempted. You should have no problem selling it!

Lens sells new for $599.

The ET-67 hood for it is rather large, but works well and sells separately for $35 (Canon OEM) or $15 (Vello clone).

This is one of only two 100mm lenses I know of that can optionally be fitted with a very useful and helpful tripod mounting ring. Canon OEM Tripod Ring B (B) is a bit pricey at $150, but it's sometimes avail for less used and there are 3rd party clones for $40 to $55. (Note: The only other 100mm macro I know of that has an optional, though different ring is the other Canon: the EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM. Otherwise, you have to buy a 180 or 200mm macro lens to get a tripod ring. Well, except for the ultra high magnification Canon MP-E 65mm, which uses the same Tripod Ring B as this lens. The Canon 180mm also uses the Tripod Ring B. It comes with that lens, in fact, but the 180mm sells for a lot more.)

I considered "upgrading" to the Canon 100L IS lens, but decided not to. Image quality of both lenses is extremely good and nearly identical. The only advantage of that lens is it's IS.... and that really doesn't do all that much when shooting at higher magnifications. I'm using a tripod or at least a monopod most of the time, anyway, when shooting macro. While the 100L lens comes with the matching hood (as all L-series do), the lens itself costs $300 more, it's separately sold Tripod Ring D is more expensive ($172), and it uses larger diameter filters (67mm).

That Heliopan filter ain't no cheapie, either. If it's the "SH-PMC" multi-coated one, it sells for over $50. And, like B+W filters, it uses high quality German Schott glass and a brass mounting ring. Personally I don't use any UV filter on a lens all the time.... Only in situations where it's actually needed (at the sea shore or out in a sand storm!). But, if you're gonna use one at all, a very high quality one like that Heliopan is one of the best choices.

So, to purchase that lens and filter new would cost double what you're asking for them. That leaves plenty of $ for someone to add the hood and tripod ring, if they want them (I would).

Good luck with your sale!
