Before you all get excited, it's not a big prize; just a handcrafted fishing bobber/float, made by me. The birdie in question was very jittery (we are having a windy evening and a much lower temperature forecast for tomorrow), but I think this pic provides enough clues for the ardent birders out there to quickly identify.

So, first correct answer, wins a prize.

There are several Nuthatch birdies; which one will you choose? If it helps, this photograph was taken this afternoon in NE Wisconsin.

Congratulations! That's what I think, too; here's another pic, with the whole bird in question.

PM me with your address and I will send you your prize.

You are welcome Sir! Here’s the type of bobber (float) the Winner chose. Now I just have to make it & mail it.

,OK, I am not in this for a prize. I always want to do a correct ID on a bird. So, black capped chickadee, or not.

The picture did not show the beak or under the chin. So the black capped chickadee could have been correct. But the second picture showed that under the chin was not black, and the beak was long. Both of them not correct for black capped chickadee. So, the second picture made the ID more accurate.

No problem. In the first pic, I thought I was being careful to show just the tip of the Nuthatches beak (poking out from behind the bark). This was a clue that this bird had way too long a beak, to be a Chickadee.

However, in the interests of fairness, if you want to PM me with your address, I will be happy to send you a consolation prize.

The bird's body was too long to be a chickadee. The OP is sweet to offer another prize, and his work is beautiful!
