Stricter controls on firearms were promised in the Liberals’ election campaign platform last fall.

I read the list of firearms ban. I have no problem with the ban, all the firearms listed you would have to pay me to get one. Too bad we don't have a ban like that here in America.

My guess is you wouldn't except payment to own any firearm, but would expect someone with one to protect your ass.

I do expect people with firearms to protect me. They are called police officers.

No it doesn’t. They already have a limit on magazine capacity - 5. This makes no sense except to those who want to be rid of all guns and of course, the sheep.

Canada’s gun laws are nutty to begin with.

You have unrealistic expectations. The police can’t protect you if someone breaks in or attacks you on the street.

Looks like you got your wish, now be a nice Canadian liberal and kiss Trudeau's other ass cheek before he turns around.

I guess you 2nd Amendment believers never did grow out of the Wild West gunslinger mentality.

If I am threatened by a gun-toting robber on the street or in my house I will let him/her take whatever they want, with the knowledge that worldly possessions can be replaced. In a gun fight the chances of surviving would be nominally 50%; I think giving in would up my chances of surviving significantly.

What if they want to take your families life? Sounds like you're OK with that too? Not me, my family expects me to protect them, and I'll do just that. But don't worry, those police officers you waited for will tell you how sorry they are.

If someone is out to kill me or my family then it will likely happen regardless of whether I have a gun or not.

If they want to rob me under threat of harm with a gun then I yield. I certainly don't go around with a gun on my hip with the expectation of having to use it because there are "bad guys" out there in society.

The US is pretty unique in the world when it comes to gun laws and attitudes. That says something to me, and it is not "progressive." The term "retrograde" comes to mind.

Don’t be childish.

You sound like someone who’s been fortunate to have never faced violence and have no idea how fast it happens. It can happen anywhere, anytime. Its not a simple matter of handing over possessions. You have no idea what their intent is. What if they want to rape your wife? Beat you just because they can?

There are an endless number of scenarios. Its too bad they don’t keep track of lives saved by guns. But that wouldn’t go with the media’s narrative.

That is because you have a victim mindset. And people who carry don’t have an expectation of using it. Where do you get some of this nonsense?

I have never been a believer in using physical violence to solve, or ward off, a problem. I would much rather “do a deal” with the other party.

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with a so-called "Wild West gunslinger mentality".

It has everything to do with tyrannical governments and their propensity to enslave the citizens. And it goes back to English common law; re protecting hearth and home.

Canadians, like you, are willfully ignorant of history, and like many other countries, you've become impotently lazy because the U.S. has carried your defense from enemies for you. And like the other "weak Wandas" of the world, you're an ingrate.

You have no concept of just how seriously we take our innate rights. You don't have any protection from a hostile, overbearing government which treats you as you deserve. You refuse to stand up for your rights, preferring a "policeman" to protect you. What happens when the police turn tyrannical? And they will, they always do.

You refuse to protect your family, and that's your first responsibility as an adult. When the "bad guys" find you can't protect yourself and your loved ones, you will become a death statistic or their slave. And when they rape and maybe kill your wife, it will be too late to assert your rights.
