Just over a week ago, we went to Merritt Island to see what was happening with the birds. By late April they have usually thinned out. There were no big flocks of birds but I was fortunate to see a great variety. It was a truly beautiful and rewarding day!

Thank you, Jim. He was sort of a dirty bird!

WOW, you indeed had a good day, Carol. I am so anxious to get out with my camera. Did find flowers in the neighborhood, but the mountain towns don't want us yet. Oh well!!!!

Super series! What a great day you had - very glad you didn't make the alligator's day, however

Nice birds, Carol, but I’m not sure about the one with no wings.

Thank you, Linda! The alligators just tend to lie around in the sun looking cool. My 2nd post of this outing will have one that was a little more active.

Thanks, John. Even if he had wings I don’t think he could fly. But then there are dragons so I’m not sure. If he could fly it would not be good!

The first Anhinga was the first bird we saw as we entered the drive. They are very pretty when they sit in the sun to dry their wings.

Thank you. If there is a bird in that one he must have been breakfast for sure.
