I saw, for the first time at our backyard feeder, this strange looking Cardinal. I have bee told that he is molting and it is normal for some Cardinals to lose all of the head feathers at once. Strange.

We had one several years ago. Ornithology professor at the university here said moulting. Now we have a sparrow in a similar state and have been told mites. 🤷‍♀️

Same here. All birds molt but I have not seen any molt like this.
