And I saw with my own eyes a photo on our local news of a wolf on the main drag of Chicago.

Wasn’t that a coyote?

My neighborhood has opossums, skunks, raccoons, and many coyotes. The coyotes are bold and sometimes are seen walking through the neighborhood in broad daylight. They are a danger to cats and small dogs. Some people think the coyotes are 'cute' and put food out for them.

The Washington Post is an unfortunate story. I carried it as a youth and read it daily for over 50 years from the time I delivered it to the time I just had to quit. It is basically an unreadable screed of opinion. Opinion is not a bad feature if it has balance or some basis in reality. For the final two years at renewal I told them I would not pay but they could count me as a subscriber for ad rate purposes. They continued home delivery. I then finally cancelled it. It wasn't worth the time to read. My day starts much better without the negativity.
The local paper is suffering so I sent them double the subscription rate last year. I just hope they make it but it doesn't look good. They have to rely on a lot of AP stories to fill each issue. It is humorous to see the letters to the editor in an uproar about some outrageous story - sure enough they are usually WaPo writers posted on AP.

You seem confused. Newspapers report the actual news. They don't make it up at press conferences.

BS - - - - if you believe newspapers aren't politically biased I would like to sell you some ocean front property in Arizona!

When I lived in Vermont the coyotes that used to mark their territory on my fence posts were roughly the size of medium sized German shepherds, much larger than the western coyotes that some folks in the N.E. used to bring in to the vet clinic where I worked, for distemper and rabies shots. We had them denning up in the woods behind our house and in the summer the howling was almost deafening once they had pups and those pups would exercise their vocal cords. I did not leave my miniature horse out at night as they could have taken him down, no problem.

Yes, and if you have small dog in your back yard exercising or doing it's business and a pack of coyote's attack and eat you little dog you are not allowed to shot the coyotes according to laws. That is more Governmental BS!

If the “news” is uniformly false, where do you get your “verified true” political information?

Well, that really puzzles me as coyotes were never indigenous to New England. Wolves, yes, coyotes, no. I'm an animal lover from as far back as I can remember, however, I do feel that there needs to be a place for us, as well as for them, and sometimes it doesn't mean sharing spaces with animals that are inherently dangerous to humans. It is easy for folks who do not live in wilderness places and who do not realize or know how dangerous that cute black bear, and that foolish looking moose, or those beautiful coyotes can be, to make the rules through ignorance, for the rest of us who have to deal with the consequence. If I'd had small children when I lived in The Green Mountains, I would not have let them out of my sight in the yard around the house as the wild critters just came too close to the house and barn. In contrast, when I was a kid we used to roam all through the Blue Hills in eastern MA, and our folks never worried about us and we never ran into animals that were deadly, despite the fact that the hills were home to rattler and copperheads. We knew enough to avoid them if we saw them in the sun on a rock. Back then, there was a bounty on rattlers. Didn't make a dent in the population.

When did they start reporting facts and actual news? All you need to do is change channels and it is a whole new set of “facts” that represents that particular stations political views. And yes, every day, they make crap up and call it news.

You’re watching the wrong channel, but let’s keep this forum to photography.
