Can anyone tell me what type of tree this is attached to. Thanks.
Maple, I'd guess - grew up around Norway Maples with seeds that were very similar.
Looks like a maple. When I was a kid we would open those and put them on our noses...silly kids.

A species of Maple - not sure which one, though.

Kid culture back in time, a universal! Be home when the streetlights come on.
Maple seeds. I would guess Red maple - Acer rubrum.

Those are seed pods in the OP’s photo. Mimosa seed pods look nothing like maple tree seed pods. The seed pods in the photo are not Mimosa seed pods.

The leaves will either confirm or deny that it's a maple.

I'LL have to go with Maple, having grown Mimosa from seed, most definitely NOT Mimosa. and controlling the spread isn't all that hard, just mow the sprouts, they can't stand it!!! The seed pods look more like bean pods.
Some variety of maple, I’d say.
No question that it's a Maple! Without the leaves it's hard to tell which one, but I'm betting that it's a Silver Maple. They're very common, grow quickly and produce thousands of these whirlybird seed pods.
