Statue of Liberty with Face Mask

This was suggested by Rush Limbaugh on his radio program today for someone to art up, so I did one. No big deal to do. Probably thousands of photos of this are already out there. It's not a partisan political statement. Just something that all America is doing now, wearing a mask.

My thoughts however, a mask suggests security from the virus. That's true. However, the Statue of Liberty suggests liberty, and a masking of liberty is an oxymoron. Appears to be a Sophie's Choice. A balancing act. I keep remembering these words, Those that seek security over liberty may end up with neither.

Absolutely. I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said that.

Love the idea and the execution.

Actually, it was Benjamin Franklin who said said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

This quote is often used out of the Ben Franklin's context. See the following link for the context this quote came from.
