First of all, this comment belongs in the Chit-Chat Section.

Are you talking about discussions, or have some actual ads shown up?
I'm not sure the Admin has much control over who buys time, but you could email him and ask.

Why don't you ask Admin. I'm not sure that any regular member would know.
I believe that the ads each member are shown are specific to that member's browsing history. I'm just guessing on that though.

I think that may be a result of your browsing history. Best to ask Admin.

although I could ask the same thing about the glass 'pigeon' ads I'm getting right now.
I would never buy such a thing, but from comments here, I guess some members do.

I've always loved ads as they were useful when needing something to wrap the garbage in..............it's little harder to do now...........

TRUE ... pop ups are targeted to the user.

The OP is almost certainly into politics per his browser data and thus gets political pop ups. Since I have less-than-zero use for any mix of internet and politics I get zero political ads. Zip zilch nada.

The tone of the opening post also strongly suggests a political bent ... that adjective “partisan” is waaaaaay loaded and by itself might attract yet more political ads.

Sure I have my political preferences. And I'm sure you do to. But I don't advertise it here on a photography forum.

But the point is... we don't need that stuff here... from either side. We get enough of it every day. Wouldn't it be nice to escape it a little?

We Agee on that but you seem to be ignoring the fact that the ads that bug you are not “on a photo forum”. I never see them just as many others here do not. Those ads are “yours”, not “ours” ... they do not infect this forum, they infect YOUR browser and or YOUR online account. It’s simply how the web operates.

Google is watching you (and me).
They record what you look at.
They use that information to place ads on unrelated websites.
