Omen via cell phone

It bothered me at the time, when the wife and I went to add a second line to our cell service. We went in in 2009 with our fully functional LG flip phone. First we were told that simpler, older style phones were not available for the new line, so we ended up getting a new (pricey) model. THEN, as we looked to transfer contact info from the old phone to the new one (so the wife could have the new phone), the Verizon store worker told us that we had to make a choice.

We were told that the entire transaction had to be cancelled OR we had to turn in the old phone and buy another new one. The rationale? The old phone was not GPS equipped. And why did we not have the right to choose a non-GPS phone? We asked. We were told Verizon had made 'deals' with the Feds for tax purposes, to phase out phones that could not be tracked. We kept the phone but we began getting termination notices, telling us our contract would be cancelled if we did not upgrade. I knew it angered me then, but now....

And what do we have now? China, SOKO, and other locations are openly, proudly, using cell phones to track ALL of the people. New Mexico is threatening the same. I'm guessing this whole coronavirus event is going to be the next excuse for government to preemptively seize even more of our liberty and for all of us to be more and more surveilled and more and more controlled.

We already gave in to seat belt mandates, to motorcycle helmet mandates, to insurance mandates, to more and more restrictions on our Constitutional rights. We already allow government to seize the fruits of our labor and dispense it to those who don't work, or who live here illegally. Who here sees an end to the intrusion of government?

The 'never let a crisis go to waste' mantra has already proven that the powers that be CAN convince a 'free' society to behave like brutalized prisoners. It has also proved that people of a certain voting bloc LOVE to issue mandates (like declaring seeds, or car-park church, or protest to be non-essential). I'm reliving my anger and frustration at hearing that government was effectively paying Verizon to keep me from owning an un-track-able phone, except this round has me exponentially more angered and pessimistic.

I can't help but think another prophetic phrase is more and more becoming my identity. "Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a leading role in a cage?" Except the Floyd line implies freedom of choice.

We were with t mobile and the about the same thing happen. I chucked the whole thing and went with Consumer Cellular, basic, basic stuff. However they use T Mobile's towers same coverage at a third the price and ninety percent less grief

Choose this day whom you will serve. The god of this world. Or the God of Abraham Issac and Jacob.
