Has Cameta finally disappeared?

When the old owner of Cameta closed down late last year, We all thought it was sold and was going to re-open early this year. But now with COVID19 dominating the scene and the brick and mortar store located in the heart of the one of the worst hotspots for the disease, the same "coming soon" webpage that has been up for months is still there.
I really liked the store and if it is gone, then its a loss for a lot of us. Anyone been able to find out if we'll actually see a new Cameta anytime soon?

Regardless of all that, if it opens with new owners there will be a new corporate philosophy. You will be starting fresh with an unknown factor.

They were very good to deal with. They had great prices on manufacturer refurbished equipment.

Not a replacement for going to an actual store, but you might try Roberts Camera's Used Photo Pro. Have done a lot of business with them, all very satisfactory.

I've used Robert's as well for a refurbished Olympus O-MD E-M5ii and it went fine. I did an offer on a used flash for it a few weeks later but they rejected my offer only to sell it for less a few weeks later. I still got one cheaper thru KEH though.

Some years ago I did trade in a camera with them for a new one. In addition to struggling with Covid-19 they have tough competition from a much larger competitor just two blocks away

I am almost absolutely sure that someone hear posted that "Camera Camera" was all done, but I am not absolutely sure my memory is accurate, so possibly search on UHH for "Camera Camera" and see what you find. Or Search internet for their Name and see what other info you find.

They are talking about “Cameta Camera” not Camera Camera.

If you mean Berger Brothers, they are no longer in Amityville. They moved elsewhere on Long Island.

B&H and Adorama are more than capable of taking care of you, and, they are open NOW. I would not lose any sleep over Cameta Camera.

It's not a matter of losing sleep. It's losing another resource. They, every so often, had better prices on used items than the other outfits.
