This is an Isopod from the Bill (newtoyou) collection that I staged for a focus stacking session. Because today is a cool, grey wet day I thought that it would be a fitting subject. A big thanks to Bill for his generosity and knowledge of finding, collecting and rearing such interesting specimens. He really helped brighten my winter with his collection.

Sippy, excellent photo and are not Isopods one of the oldest creatures on Earth? Just checking my memory, I believe I saw it on one of the science shows on TV.

Are there really blue tints on the insect or are the highlights reflecting blu from elsewhere? Nice details as usual!

Thanks, Greg. I find them to be quite strange too and I'm pleased to share them for all to see.

Thanks, there are so hints of blue on them and especially in their antenna. Some of the pale blue could be reflections from the stainless steel platform that I set them on which bring out more of it as well.

Thanks, Brenda. Still more grey cool days here with mist at times.

Napabob, it sure appears to be that way. I never realized how much I enjoyed a simple meal out until they are all closed. Even though they still will carry out to curb service, it's just not the same.
