I don't know...
...well, it started out pretty straight forward. I'm gonna do some printing for the first time in a long time, actually got one done for a friend whose dog died with only a couple of failures. THEN got onto some stuff that people have said "...oh, you *have* to do that one" which turned out to be a big can. See, it's all so forgiving until you print. Sigh. So, I didn't know where to put this one without people yelling at me, so here goes (I'm mentally ready...).
Did you mean, "big can of worms"? That I can really relate to.
The sharpening has obviously been ramped up quite a bit. Is that something you've learned to do from experience when having a shot printed?
As for the content, it's a good, focused study of the area where all the action is in surfing. The stuff along the bottom is a bit distracting, probably because I don't know what to make of it. Getting rid of it completely might be a bit difficult but subduing it might be more of a possibility (if that's what you'd want).
It's a fascinating pov and holds my attention, that's for sure! At first I thought the red stripes should go, or be changed to another color, but after a few minutes I'm leaning towards liking exactly as presented.
My take on this is to remove the red at the bottom. I think it might be the back of a boat not sure. I don't think it adds anything. When the download opened it opened in steps and I saw how it would look if that part wasn't there.
Having said all that I like the picture a lot. Normally I wouldn't like all that heavy grain but it adds creative flair to this piece. I wanted to say photograph then thought art but went with piece, is there a better word?
We amateurs are impressed! Great use of perspective and artistic presentation. I would like to see it without the red (which draws my eye away).
The image is a crop from a shot from the Huntington Beach Pier...here's some of how it went down: I made a couple of test prints and couldn't get the feet right (in and out of PS many times) because it's such a heavy crop, "so," I said to myself, "we need to go texture!" Well, Topaz has a million variations and if you asked me to this again I would be lost (but I really like to do things that way...they're never the same and, to me, that's the added artistic thrust) but that's where I ended up. I bounce around quite a bit once onto something like this. I'm going to mount it on hardboard, make a frame (design as yet to be determined), clear coat the print using Breathing Color Matte mixed with their Timeless Satin, and maybe try to get it hung somewhere. Topaz put the red in...and I liked it! <shrug> I kinda had Linda's reaction, haha...
...OH, thanks a ton for the comments. ESPECIALLY glad not to be yelled at! ;0)

Thanks for your learned take on this thing, Linda. Love your level head!
After reading the steps you took to get this image it makes sense to me. I think this is the kind of photo that you have to spend some time on. Let it grow on you. If you want to keep the red band in the shot, one should be enough. I would get rid of the bottom red line.

OMG that is funny. Sorry, dog dying not funny, but the wording above is funny.

...we need a set of buttons like FB! Thanks for your response, Frank.
I really like this image. There is so much motion. I assume this is from a ski surf boat and the bottom lines are boat reflections but they don't take anything away imho.
Edit:
I am surprised that Topaz added the red. Interesting.
Ed
I like it the way it is. The red objects, they appear to be surf boards, and mystery to the image. And it does grow on you.
