Oh, I remember.
Vividly.
Good times, simpler life.
The 60s? There' all kind of blurry and things run together. Of the things I do remember: I didn't go to Woodstock (1 of only 3 of my generation who didn't). I did go to Altamont and didn't know anyone got killed. I will always remember Kent State. I was beaten by Blue Meanies in Berkeley. I was a Deadhead but didn't take The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Most of all, I survived but friends didn't.
Thanks for the link. I was there and I remember it all.
I remember them well. I married the love of my life in the summer of ‘69
Today’s politicians are corrupt? Just carrying on an old tradition.
Don't have to worry about Mr. Whipple squeezing the Charmin these days. At least not in the stores. Thanks for sharing Mike. Fun trip back...
Yup; I remember them all. Since the clips are roughly in chronological order, it gives you a slight idea of the incredible changes our society underwent, from 1960 to 1969. Civil rights, women's rights, the environment and gay rights all came of age, that decade, to say nothing of technological changes that saw us going from being just barely able to launch a 100 pound satellite in orbit, to walking on the moon. Of course that decade was when we boomers went from about 15, to 25 years old and really shook things up.
Hmmmm....Buck Rogers to Captain Kirk; not too much changed there, it was still the good guy kicking the bad guy's ass but in color!
Navy wings 1959
Married 1963 (still there, quarantined with her now)
Daughter born 1966
Fun times.
If someone tell you that their saw it all during the 1960s is a lied. Too many things were going on at the same time during the 1960s. To this day I finding out about thing that happen during the 1960s I never knew about.
Being a "boomer" I lived through the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Those 30 years were evolutionary and revolutionary at the same time. I may not have experienced everything that went on, but I have rubbed elbows with many who experienced much more than I and consider myself fortunate to have lived then. Many of the younger generations do not really appreciate what happened back then that has made their loves that much easier and more secure. Nor do they understand why and how we made the mistakes we made, and they are being corrected now. It is all part of life that will come full circle soon enough.
I remember all of it, like it was yesterday.
I remember being in a motel in College Park, across the street from the Univ. of Maryland waiting for a meeting with USDA in Hyattsville. There was lots of commotion outside and teargas came wafting into the rooms. When we went outside to see what was going on, the was a line of police to keep us off the street. There was some sort of riot on the campus and they were asking people who wanted to be arrested to get on busses that were lined up. It happened on the same day as the Kent State shooting so never made the news. Being a young man fresh off the Kansas farm, it made quite an impression on me.
