Film (and yes they still get use, the 'Blad especially):
Nikon FTN
Nikon F2A
Nikon F4E
Nikkormat FT2
Hasselblad 500CM

Digital:
Nikon D850
Nikon D500
Nikon D700

As for the "need" part, I rarely get rid of cameras which still work and I would still use them. Why would I?

I own only one camera and it is a Nikon D500. Previously, I owned a D5100, a D5300 and a D5500 before finally acquiring the D500. I always "needed" the next iteration in the series. I've also owned 5 different BMW motorcycles over the years, so I understand the Gear Acquisition Syndrome. There are many motorcycle owners who own several machines, one friend owning about twenty of them. There is no cure for love, no matter what the source is....

I use two cameras a 5D and a 7D. I chose this set up for 2 reasons. One is full frame and one is not and the others reason is they both have the same set up of controls so in my hands I don't have to think is it the 5D of 7D the are the same feel.
Out of boredom (stay at home till ????) I took out my wife 5DM to play with. So far I like the SLR's the best still.

I have the D850 and D500 for pretty much the same reason. My D850 is used as my primary camera but I use the D500 primarily for nature photography when I need some more "reach". The two cameras are essentially identical in appearance, especially when viewed from the rear. The only real way to tell the two apart, apart from the obvious model number on the front, is the D850 has a taller pentaprism.

Nikon D850 and Nikon D7200. One full frame and one DX. Seems reasonable to me.

No Nikons or Canons any more. I used to have suitcase full of Nikon film gear.

Current cameras, in order of size...

Panasonic GX8, Lumix 100-400 for wildlife, Lumix 14-140 for everything else.
Panasonic LX100, m43 sensor in a travel size, complete with leather case
Olympus TG5, for when its rugged out
Sony RX100, first edition. I need to use it more!
Panasonic SDT-750 camcorder. I need to use it more too!
Samsung Galaxy S9. Amazing camera and I can talk on it too.

In the future, I hope to add the Panasonic G9. That's delayed for now as I am expecting to spend any and all spare cash helping out my daughter. She is within days of being out of work as a cook in Seattle for Amazon. The cooks are on a contract through a company called Compass. Amazon sent their people home so Compass does not have any people to cook for in the downtown office buildings.

In the past I have usually had two bodies, a full frame and a crop sensor. My most recent pairing was a 5DIV and a 7DII. Sold both of them when I bought my EOS R. When the EOS R5 comes out I will probably buy it and keep my R, so, I will be back to 2 bodies, both full frame though. I rarely hang onto a camera body that I am not using. Would rather sell it and know that someone else is getting use out of it.

I have about 40 film cameras and they are all 35mm. I can't list them all as I don't remember. I have 3 digital cameras. A P&S Nikon Coolpix 5000, Nikon D1x and Nikon Df. I don't need any of them. I just like to have them.

Argus C3
Leica M3
Leica M6
Leica M10
Leica D-Lux 6
Nikon D500
Nikon D850

I don't shoot film anymore but hold on to those cameras largely for sentimental reasons. The digital cameras all get used according to whichever one is the "best fit" for a particular task.

3 Nikons:

D800e my high MPx body. Used for documentation and high resolution needs. Some landscape use.

D4 my normal usage body. Good for general use and high ISO work.

D5 my high ISO body. Slightly better than the D4 for high ISO but not as good as the D4 for normal ISO ranges, as the dynamic range is a bit less.

1 Apple iPhone 8+:
The camera I usually have with me. This camera takes more accidental photos of my foot than all the others combined.

Doesn’t D850 have essentially same ‘reach’ as D500 if DX lens is used??

Yes. But I do not own any DX lenses. In fact I don't even own any autofocus lenses, and doubt I ever will. All 28 of my lenses from 8mm fisheye to 600mm super telephoto, are manual focus AIS. They are all very sharp and built to last a lifetime. I have replaced all of the standard DSLR focusing screens with split image/microprism ones so in essence, for me at least, they are really little more than digital versions of my F2 since I work in manual about 95% of the time.

I've been shooting for a long time and have managed to collect a few cameras along the way. Still have almost all of them, although several are currently on loan to folks who I am encouraging to get interested in photography, and what I've kept all still works. Here's the list in the order that the cameras came to me. Everything still works, but a couple could use some cleaning, oiling, and adjusting. Not shown in the list is the medium format Mamiya equipment that I used for a number of years before trading it toward some major updates and upgrades in digital capability, nor a couple of additional Olympus SLRs that were part of that trade. This history begins in 1962, when I borrowed the camera at the top of the list from my dad for a family vacation trip to Yellowstone. I was 11 at the time. Here goes:

Argus C4 (50mm f2.8 35mm with split-image rangefinder. Major update of the C3.)
Voightlander Vitomatic (Another 50mm f2.8. Lost the split-image focusing, but gained a built-in exposure meter)
Minolta SRT-201 (First camera I purchased new.)
Olympus Om2S (Kept it because it is able to use alkaline batteries.)
Fuji S3Pro DSLR (Currently on loan.)
Nikon D200 (currently on loan, although I have a second one with no operating flash control)
Nikon D300 (Plus an additional one that is also on loan. No longer used a lot.)
Nikon D300s Still used when 12 mp is "just right" or when standard-definition video is called for.)
Nikon D810 (Acquired in preparation for a night sky workshop, retained for the smooth, quiet shutter.)
Nikon D850 (Becoming my preferred choice for most situations.)
Nikon D500 (Precisely mirrors the D850 when big images are not called for.)
Nikon D500 (Additional body because it's such a great camera.)

This list looks pretty long, but in reality, I shoot with a pair of full frame cameras and a pair of DX bodies...usually the D850 and one of the others, except during performances, when the much quieter D810 remains first choice.
