The blackberry's new leaves are a vivid green against last year's leaves. It never got cold enough this winter for last year's leaves to drop.

That is a really nice composition. Movement and balance. I have a feeling it might make a very strong b/w.

I took your suggestion and tried B+W. I'm not satisfied with it, but maybe if I ruminate on it a while I can figure out what to do.

Thanks. It's vertically composed almost by chance. I took the photo looking straight down. When I looked at it on the 'puter, I rotated it until the light looked right.

I worked on it also and like you I was not able to find the way. It’s possible the green version had some baked in contrast in the highlights.

The highlights on the leaves are surprisingly bright, for a shot taken in open shade. My problem fiddling with the B+W was getting the texture in the bright green leaves without blowing out those highlights. I must need a new LR trick... :)

I really like how you've separated the colors on this. This would make an excellent b/w where the difference could be maximized.
