Velvet Longhorn Beetle

This is my preserved Velvet Longhorn Beetle that I staged for a focus stacking session. Several of you may have seen it before and it is one of my favorite subjects to use for the hairs show me how much diffraction I may be getting with the degree of magnification and f/stop settings. I use it as a standard for comparison when I change equipment and then change it back.

Thanks, Kpmac. I put a bit of time into each one of them and it's nice to hear that you enjoy seeing them. When spring arrives and the blooms start to pop I'll be able to add to my collection so I'll have some new preserved models willing to pose for me.

Thanks, Brenda. This is one of them that I have that make an interesting study in the structure of their compound eyes.
