I just updated several of my computers to the latest major update and yep it got one of mine. When the computer rebooted "bootmbr not found". After many hours of trying to find a solution I got the problem resolved. Had to use a setup disk to get to the command prompt where I could run "diskpart". After selecting the disk, the volume, and partition I was able to reset the boot partition to "active". Reboot and walla problem fixed.

Several days before I let my laptop update I ordered a WD external drive from B&H & then I cloned my SSD C drive. Not taking chances anymore.

I updated 3 laptops and 3 desktops with only one laptop that messed up. Go figure.

I cloned mine about a week ago after having to install Windows twice.

I had to fix it. My wife is doing our taxes on it. When she is not happy I'm hounded and in trouble.

The word is "voila" which is French. The spelling "voila" is pronounced (as you indicated) is still voila.

What version opf Win 10 are you using, 32- or 64-bit? I looked up a couple of the guilty updates and they only applied to 32-bit. That explains why I haven't had those perticular problem, as the 5 systems my wife and I have are all 64-bit.

Get Linux and be done with windows and their nonsense updates that wreck your systems.

Mine rebooted itself and started upgrading. After an hour and a half watching the upgrade at 91% I rebooted and will try to do it later when I go to bed.

OlinBost you're lucky. You knew what to do to fix the problem. I wouldn't have a clue.
