I am going hopefully going on a two trip to Spain and Portugal. I do very little with my images while I am away and thinking of traveling without a laptop and external hard drive to save the images too. My questin is what options are out there. So far I have looked at the following options:
1. Buy multiple cards and number them by day and camera, I normally travel with my 6D and 7D MkII.
2. Purchase a Dazuinfo XferMax X8-C, then add a Hard Drive, and rechargeble batteries and I am out over $600.00
3. Purchase a LaCie DJI Copilot Boss, about $250 and not as nice as #2.

What do you guys do? Are there other options, I am early into this investigation.

Thanks, Gary

I have numerous cards if I don't want to take a laptop. I have a small laptop for travel, thin and light, so I always take it.

I just take multiple cards and label them. They take up hardly any space and they weigh almost nothing a all.

We travel with Samsung tablets that allow us to read electronic books and access the internet, among other things. I use an on the go plug that has a card reader and usb slots. If I am not bringing my Mobilite and portable hard drive, I us the OTG plug to back up my SD card to a flash drive and store the sd card and the flash drive in separate locations. I would not go on a meaningful trip without a back up system.

Depends on the purpose of my trip. If it’s for serious photography, I take about twice as many rolls of film than I think I may need. For anything else, I take a digital point and shoot and extra memory cards.

Take a look at the RavPower from Anker. It is a storage device, a transfer device, and a wireless access device. You can automatically transfer files from your card to any USB storage device.

Use memory cards only, and keep them labeled.

Mightnwant to wait until they sort out the COVID-19 outbreak in Spain. Travel for pleasure right now could belp to spread this virus. Your safety and any you come i contact with could be jeapordized.

I decided three years before I went digital that I would need a laptop computer to go digital and that I would make multiple copies of my files every night. Even when I went to California by train - and saved space by taking only my smallest camera - I still took a laptop.

But you can make your own choice.

Does anyone make a hard drive that I can download my SDG cards to that does not require a computer?
If not, someone should invent these, would make travel backup so convenient.

I take extra cards an a small note book. Taking a computer is too much hassle getting thru security plus the weight. Also, I only take my 6D which is all I need. Lenses are more important than two DSLRs.

Cards are cheap...you don't need all high capacity ones. Mark cards with a sharpie.

When I travel by air I normally do not take my laptop.
I use a card per day or two, review some in camera,
then save the images when I get back to the house.

IF YOUR CAMERA HOLDS 2 CARDS I WOULD DUPLICATE THE PHOTOS AS A BACK UP.

I spent two weeks in Ireland last fall and didn't even fill one memory card even though I felt like I was attached to my camera. I just made daily notes for myself so I could remember where we were and what we were doing for the photos I took. Of course, I was only shooting with one camera, but I would think you could get along just fine without taking along a backup. I would carry cards and switch them out daily if you're that afraid of a failure.
