Is your integrity worth $25?

I was buying a lens from a guy that posted that the prior purchaser flakes out on him. I assured him I would never do that. We negotiated a $25 discounted price ( which he said was perfect) and we were to meet today to complete the transaction.
Instead I got a message that said
“ Bad news, I got my price and it is sold, have a nice day.”
He could have given me a chance to pay the $25 but instead, sold his integrity for
Chump change.
Lots of losers out there!!

Apparently the asking price was fair and you took a chance that almost paid off.

I agree with you.. I told some friends about a lens that I was selling and offered it to them for less than I thought it was worth hoping that it would be an easy sale. I already had it listed on Craigslist. But a day later my friend Bob said he'd take it. Not more than an hour later an offer came in from someone on CL for $200 more than I was offering it to friends for. I felt obligated to tell him that it's sold, and that I'd be taking the ad down. So my friend was happy. But about a year later my friend decided to sell it and asked me if I'd sell it for him since he still works, and I'm retired. So I tried and tried but couldn't make all the money back for him and sold it on eBay for about $50 less than he bought it from me for, but eBay has charges that I had to subtract and so he actually lost about $150. But he got a years worth of use and it so happens that that particular lens had become obsolete by Canon. That's why I couldn't get the same price or more for that lens.

I gave a friend a trailer that he told me he needed to haul his Lawnmower. I didn't use it and he said he really needed it and was thankful I gave it to him. A week later he sold it for 300.00. He didn't understand why I was pissed. We finally worked it out after he tried to give me the money and I threw it on the floor. Lol. I gave it to him because he needed it not to make money with. I could have sold it also. Anyway money sometimes makes people think oddly. Obviously myself included. We are better friends than ever and both have a better understanding of each other. 😂

I agree it was a $h1++y thing to do but, be thankful he/she actually told you.

Can't tell you how many times I've answered an ad, negotiated a price, a meeting place, gave me their number.......NOTHING! Don't show up. Don't answer the phone or door. You name it. Wasted time and gas.

I wouldn't even think of doing that to another person.

My Dad sold our '57 Chevy for 25 bucks. It was still running well, just had some rust damage on the front fenders. Some guy would come around and show interest in it and look at the engine from time to time so he sold it for nothing. I could have used it in college!!!
