Problem with downloading on UHH

In the past few weeks, I have noticed that my ability to see downloads, and especially double DL's, has changed dramatically. The DL's are smaller but not uniform in size from one poster to another. The greatest change has been in DDL's These vary wildly and, to me, unpredictably. They might be smaller than the initial DL or the might fill the screen...or more. Along with this, EXIF info has shrunk so much as to be illegible to these old eyes.

Initially, I thought there may have been a system change by UHH that I was unaware of, but after I noticed that nobody else (that I saw) had similar complaints, I assumed it was not system-wide problem. On the other hand I am not aware of any change that I might have made to influence the appearance of photos. I am not the most computer-knowledgeable person I know, so it is possible I did something unwittingly to screw things up. I haven't added any new programs or shuffled things around.

I do miss the ability to see DL's and DDL's to appreciate better the offerings here. The inability to see EXIF data makes it harder for me to learn more about what works in different situations. I'd appreciate any help
offered.
Thanks,
Frank

Downloads will not be uniform in size because people post anything from 600 pixels wide to 5,000. The "ddl" - which is just zooming in, is also dependent on your browser settings. I have mine to a larger than normal view. You may have changed the default type size and/or the zoom function of your browser.

Similar with exif, if you are using the same reader as always but the print is smaller, it is probably related to your computer's resolution settings and/or your browser settings.

Do you view on a single device only? Same browser all the time? (i.e. Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or whatever it's called now )

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
The size of the download depends on the size of the file the poster sends up to UHH.
Everyone is not sending the same size images (files).

Hopefully, the 'message' is finally taking hold to resize your digital images. As mentioned in the comments above, each individual photographer can crop (not crop) their images to any pixel resolution. Images that are 600-pixels or less wide, generate only a thumbnail and no download option. Images at 601-pixels wide up to 'whatever' size, will generate a download option when the OP specifically selects to attach their image file for the download option.

This linked discussion below presents an argument for resizing images to 2048-pixels wide, along with screen captures of several popular software to make this change.
