How is it decided as to what gets displayed at UHH

I've recently tried to "take" UHHers on a trip to Utah that they might never do on their own. Each day I posted 4-6 photos (in chronological order) of my 5 week sojourn. Most of the posts (into the Gallery section) appeared the next day on my daily notice from UHH. Those posts received between 1800 and 4200 views. Three or four of those posts never appeared on my daily notice from UHH and they received 154-166 views. How is it decided what gets included in the posts we receive from UHH. If it's individuals (administrators) making that decision what do they base it on. If in fact it is "censors" making that decision, that seems to me inherently unfair and restrictive.

I'm including 5 images that never got seen by most UHHer's. The first 2 are from Utah's Fish and Owl Creek (a 4 day backpack), including a kiva with an intact roof (first image)- a pretty rare sight. The last 3 are from the southwestern corner of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. On the fourth one a raven can be seen (in the download !) in the right edge. My party climbed the "mountain" that's in the background behind our camp.

The emailed daily digest contains only 30 of the 50 - 100 topics posted to Photo Gallery every day. The ones that make it into the digest are a combination of timing and day-of-posting activity (more comments received on day 1 means more likelihood of being in the digest. There are variations of the digest, also, because of the worldwide membership and timing of posts).

The way to see the entire list of daily postings is to use "Newest Topics." This is a link at the top of any UHH page and contains only those sections to which a user is subscribed.

There are about 35 forums on UHH. See "all sections" at this bottom of this page to subscribe to ones of interest. New users are automatically subscribed to only the original six or seven sections. The rest are managed by volunteers and are relatively small traffic-wise; most are specialized.

Unfortunately, as you have discovered, many prefer "UHH Lite" and allow the system to direct their activity (choose for them), and some get downright cranky if their morning email doesn't show up. Folks, UHH is a website that you can access directly any time of day or night

It's a little scary that you or anyone can click your user name and see every topic you've ever created, every post, and every image. I went back and looked, those are some great shots!

So the lesson is to be nice! Your words live forever on the web!

Well this topic went in an unexpected direction. Thank you folks!

Re seeing all comments and photos posted in user history, I think that's a great thing. Primarily, it's very helpful if you receive a harsh/rude comment. You can scan a couple of pages to confirm whether the user was just having a bad day or is a regular troll.

Also, when receiving feedback, I think being able to see a user's photos (if there are any!!) is educational - is their talent of a caliber you could learn from? Are they a similar genre and style as yours? And so forth
