This picture was selected as the Grand Prize Winner of the "Cranes of Rowe
Sanctuary 2019 Photo Contest." It was taken from a blind at the Iain Nicolson
Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary between Kearney and Grand Island, NE on
the Platte River. Canon6D, Canon 300L, f/5, 1/400, ISO 100
600,000 (80% of the world's cranes) sandhill cranes land near the spot where this shot was
taken each spring for about a month. They have come from south Texas and points south of that and are headed for the "Arctic and subarctic nesting grounds."*
It is an amazing photographic experience and I will be back in that blind the end of March.
