KEH has done it yet again
I went out the mailbox just before 11:00 and saw the Fedex truck coming up Kansa Ln. I saved the driver the walk up to my door and got my package from KEH.
Once I had all the bubble wrap off I turned the lens over in my hands. I found one small scratch on the focal length barrel and just a bit of missing ink on the VR insignia. Both I really had to look hard to find. I'm grateful for them, frankly. Those marks got the lens busted down to BGN grade and saved me over 30 bucks. Otherwise it looks and works like new.
The strap was grade LN. I didn't even bother to look it over much, I just started putting it on the camera.
It took me awhile to find out how to get the camera out of Manual mode and into Program mode.
I took a couple of shots of the TV to see if the lens indeed worked in AF. Perfect.
So here's more praise for KEH. They are just a pleasure to deal with.

Glad it worked out for you and welcome to the AF club. Great shots of a good looking dog. Just a question, is the heavy chain necessary or is he really a pussycat.
I have gotten most of my equipment from them and usually classified as BGN grade and have never been disappointed.
Curmudgeon, If you're part of the family Ziggy in a real sweetie (I could never call her a pussycat). It takes about three or four meetings before you're in. Otherwise she's a vicious snarling monster. She's never bitten or attacked anyone but she can sure make you think she will. When she gets a head of steam up I've had her blow up a retractable leash. Everything has to be extra heavy duty. When Vern the Dog was getting near the end of his life she guarded him as if he were gold plated. Our next door neighbors were open the door and let their dogs go types and their youngest dog, a hundred plus pound Black Lab was completely out of control. Ziggy sent him home whimpering twice when he made the mistake of getting aggressive with Vernie. I'll never forget how she cared for him.
I have "Murphy The Ghost Dog" who guards only me and my wife,no body else is allowed his world. He "nipped" one gentleman who entered the house without an invitation.

I have had the impression that their "BGN" lenses were pretty beat up? So, they only really indicate a cosmetic scratch or blemishes on non vital areas of equipment?
I also was under the impression that there "BGN" lenses or bodies where pretty beat up. There site states that these are 70-79% of original. I have purchased 2 lenses from them one in EX+ and the other in EX conditions and i could not tell that either one had ever been used.
Some of the price differences between BGN and EX are several hundred dollars.
Like the Nikon 70-200 2.8 vr. EX is $1063.00 and same lens in BGN is $676.00. That much difference in price would concern me enough to go with the higher priced.
It is indeed interesting to hear that there apears to be a lot less wear and tear on the BGN items.

The very first lens I bought from KEH was rated UG. Every single painted mark on the camera was in perfect condition as were all components. What made it ugly? The plastic for the zoom barrel wasn't black but dark gray! That was it. Have no fear of the lesser ratings. Only stuff marked As-is is damaged in some way and they'll tell you if it's for parts only.

About a year ago I bought a Nikon D3300 body (for travel...nice and light) from KEH, a "BGN" rated piece. I couldn't fine a flaw on it, and only 7000 shutter count. I'll be on the lookout for KEH's BGN bargains.
I have often wandered about that. When you look at the photos of these items, they mostly look good but Ugly and BGN, suggest something different.
Virtually everything I have ordered from KEH has been in better condition than rated. They are my most trusted source for used equipment.
I am a retired professional photog. I've bought from KEH since they started, I'd guesstimate
I've spent more than 20k with them. I have nothing but praise for them, never had one issue
with everything I've bought from them, just the best !!!
I’ve bought lots from them, always “bargain”grade and they all have looked much better than what I would have expected bargain grade to look like. I have only sent two things back and that was because of things not related to condition.
Very good set, happy that you are happy with your purchase.
Don't know anything about KEH but just adore that pooch...I want one!
