Can anyone tell me why the Progressives hate plastic straws?
Here in California a while back the progressive segment pushed through a law that banned plastic straws.
Today I had to ask for a straw (as all straws are now banned unless asked for) and was given a fuzzy paper straw. Interesting turn of events.

Someone, a few years ago found a sea turtle with a plastic straw in one of its nostrils.
The solution is to ban all plastic straws.
Now one must sacrifice the blood of their first born to get a straw anywhere.
I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, "We must outlaw spoons because they made Rosie O'Donnell fat!"

OK, so what is my excuse? Ban forks as well?
Next we have to get rid of those pesky plastic cup lids!
We need a nationwide ban on two liter bottles of cola.

Then do we get the 3-liter bottle instead? More goodness in the bottle.

One of Califs. laws that I agree with.
Mainly because the plastic takes forever to degrade, not just straws, also bottles, cups, plastic bags Etc.
Paper can be recycled!!!!
I personally would like to see the return of glass bottles, thing just taste better out of glass and it is almost 100% recyclable.

I remember those waxy paper straws from grammar school lunch rooms, poke two straws through the top of the milk bottle and drench the guy across the table.

That is the question. Why are straws included with virtually every drink you order anyway? Unless I’m drinking a soda in my car I routinely throw them away without ever using them. Plastic pollution is a real problem for our oceans and landfills. Paper may be a help but first STOP giving me straws in the first place, or ask if I really want one first!

Our society buys plastic products wrapped in plastic casings and carry them home in plastic bags and that’s ok, but we complain about plastic straws? Seriously?

When you are at the movies and you take a drink from the enormous volume of liquid and the cap pops off drenching you with sugary goodness during the best part of the film. That's the reason.
My wife recently purchased a drink, I can't remember from where, that had a plastic top with a triangular hole (with the point to the triangle rounded) cut out of the top to drink from. No need for a straw. It was not a super large drink, so no chance of the top coming off when tipping it up.

I never use straws. No reason, I just don't like them. For the most part, the only ones who need them are children or the disabled
