or Paint Shop or DxO or...

Is it really?
for my eye, processing the raw and then comparing it with the JPG I shot I see little or no difference. I look to make the JPG as I see it with my eye at the time I shoot as I would seek to do with the raw with PP. Given I can do that why do I want to spend time at the computer when I can have the camera do that?

I don't shoot *.RAW, only *.jpg and I've never used RAW. The RAW file has the most correct data, directly from the image processor. The jpg file is a composite from this data and cannot be better.

Your jpg files are exquisite; what did you feed them to pose like that?

Very nice set. Raw or JPEG is up to you, which ever produces the best results. With the new cameras I find JPEG produces stunning photos so why spend a lot of time trying to get same result.

I have been shooting in raw for quite some time now, but lately, I switched to JPEG, and I don't think I will be going back to raw. My photos seem to be crisper, and much colorful. I cannot duplicate that rich color in shooting raw. Plus, there is much less post processing. Here are several photos I took today, the only post processing was to crop for better perspective.

It is your hobby - If YOU like what you do, Do what YOU like, YOU are the one YOU have to please!! It's all up to you jradose!! The photos look fine, and they are some of my favorite friends!!

Don't take this wrong but your male cardinals are to the orange side and your camera has lost a lot of feather detail when it processed your shots the blue jay is also washed out I suggest you try Raw again and setup some of your own presets you like and your processing will go faster

The camera manufacturer's software should allow you to explore the various settings that are used to make jpg's in a post production environment. If you want you can translate these effects to Lightroom etc.

Yes, but you should be able to get the same result from RAW, and if your photos are of lesser quality, you have a better chance at 'fixing' them. I've never used RAW and I'm not a pro.

For those who, like Linda and I, use or have PSE for a $12 fee there is "PSE Elements-Plus" which opens more of the PS doors not found in PSE.
Take a look...

I am a very basic amateur with both the camera and Post processing. Yes I have my camera set for "Raw+jpeg. The one thing I missed or it was not covered. The OP didn't say what software is being uses.
I have purchased ON1 RAW 2020. I am obliviously on a steep learn curve. That said, one feature I really like when using Raw in Develop is "AI" . It just does most of the work for me. Plus I add in "Add Filter" is Dynamic Contrast . Those two will give me a smile and only took a few seconds. Crop and I am done.
