High desert birds

My family and I spent two weeks birding in Joshua Tree, San Diego and areas outside of Los Angeles. I am sharing five birds of the 18 new-to-us birds we saw: phainopepla, Harris’s Hawk, a road runner, cactus wren and a California towhee. Please enjoy the downloads.

Never saw any of these critters when I was in the desert there at Camp Pendleton! Course I was a little preoccupied at the time. Great work, my favorite is the road runner..

They are not common, but once in a while, one is spotted south of LA. That’s what I was told.
