Lexar makes a good card reader. I use the Lexar Pro which is USB 3.0 compliant and has both SD and CF slots. I've used it now for years and it works very well. You can also use your PC's (I'm assuming you don't use an Apple) built in reader for SD cards.

All iMac and mac laptops have S D slots and have had them for years so not sure why you made the dig?

Hello! I read that it is better to download your photos to a card reader and then go from the card reader to the computer. It was said to be better than downloading photos directly from the camera using a USB cable. I have to admit all I've ever done is use the USB cable.

Just in case I should use a card reader, is there one brand that you recommend? I have several that were given out as premiums for marketing events. I don't know if I should trust those or not.

Any insights you could share would be most appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

If any one method was best, it would be recommended in your user’s manual.

My card reader is an "All In One" (that's the label, folks!). Yes, you can use multiple sized cards with it. I picked it cheap at a discounter after my last card reader fell apart. I've used it for about five years and it hasn't given me any problems. I don't think you'd have problems with the one you received as premiums.

What kind of card are you using? Different cards different speeds for different readers for instance I use a Sd UHS1 card I only use scan disk cards so the reader I purchased for UHC 1 cards with a transfer speed of 170

Could it be that it wasn't a "dig" at all, but simply explaining that they don't know if Apple has a built in reader for the SD cards, since they don't use/own Apple ? "Most" people do not use Apple

Thank you everyone!! I tried the marketing premium card reader and it actually worked! And now I know why I shouldn't continue to download images directly from the camera. I also just ordered another card reader just in case one breaks while I am in Iceland! You are all so generous with sharing your knowledge, time, and expertise. I cannot thank you enough!

Well, I didn't need to wait until the card reader I have broke when I was in Iceland...one pin somehow became bent. Suffice it to say that my attempts to fix it didn't work! I am going to purchase another another card reader in addition to the one I just purchased. Perhaps the more expensive card readers have something in place that helps prevent bent pins. I always look to see where the connectors are before inserting. Sometimes, I am unsure whether to have the card's label face the front or back of the camera...is there a way of knowing prior to inserting the card? Thank you in advance...
