So I purchased a D300 here on UHH. Camera looks great. Bought a Compact flash card 128GB.
When placed in the camera, it reads Full. Tried formatting but didn't help.
Could the card be to many GB?
I'm sure this is not first time this has happened and someone will know the answer.

A lot of older cameras have a limit on the gb size of the memory card that can be used with it.
Looks like your are trying to use a 128 gb card in the D300, it is way to much for this camera.
Most of the older cameras could only handle 8 or 16 gb cards at the most.
Try using an 8 gb card with this camera, it should work fine.

I believe you're limited in the GB size you can use in this ancient camera. Try your 32GB card. If still no, try your 16GB. The 128GB is without question a No-Go.

Did you try another CF card? I think 128 GB is too much for D300, if I remember correctly D300 will work with up to 32GB and D300S - 64GB.

32GB is the max readable on a D300. It may accept a 64GB card, but only use half of it.
Considering the file size from those cameras, that's a lot of images.
I had 2 D300 bodies for quite a while, now in the hands of other Hoggers. Good camera!

I believe the 300s upped that.

After doing some research, looks like 32 gb is the largest size card that can be used in the D300.
The D300s could use 64 gb cards due to an update to the camera.

Nikon usually lists cards that are approved for a specific camera. It should be in the manual, or try calling Nikon.

'cept the owners manual doesn't take into account firmware updates.

it looks like the list must have been in columns which didn't carry over when you copied them. It's pretty much worthless in this format.

Yep, it came out kinda goofy, hence I still suggest looking at page 371 of the owners manual (free download online from Nikon). However I don't see anything over 8 GB anywhere on the page. chase

I looked at the D300 firmware update for this camera and the matter of CF memory was not mentioned.
