Nikon 700 Camera body--Sold, thanks

I'm the original owner of this camera, I've never had any problems, shutter count is about 17,500 (since i use it several times a week it'll change somewhat). It's a US model and I can supply more data if needed. I generally used a Sachtler tripod mounting system so the bottom of the camera isn't scratched. Likewise the back screen protector has never been removed either. It includes an extra Nikon battery, original box, cords, strap and some manuals. I can't seem to find the English edition and I'm not certain what Cd's came with the camera, but I have them 'someplace'! I see where the lettering on the "menu" button is worn and you'll see some dust in the crevices if you search but it's generally very clean, inside too! $400 plus shipping

Not sure what you mean by 'a lot' regarding playback, but I could only delete what was shot--17500 total amount. I do a lot of studio work, so yes I often playback several times--no need to keep images that don't measure up, right!

Bob , you may have bought the camera in the US, but the serial number indicates it first sold in Japan.

Yes, I also am wondering where you got your information. All I can find is all D700's were manufactured in Japan for the world market. Thanks.

I no longer have any purchasing information/invoices. I simply ordered it from either B&H or Calumet and paid the going rate. It was once cleaned by a local repair man so I've never tried sending it to Nikon as it's been trouble free. I'm not a dealer and don't sell cameras often so I'm unaware of what to look for.

Nikon has long used the first digit of the serial number to indicate region for many of their products (all the way back into the film SLR era). Traditionally, that first digit was used by Nikon like this:

this is all interesting, perhaps I had heard about the #'s years ago. At one time a rumor when around the Brooks Institute rumor mill, where you could tell if the lens was to be used by pros or 'others' by having a "P" engraved someplace on the front ring. My 105 had it, but my other lenses didn't--turns out it was all BS, as it was a way of determining something else. The explanation was in a long ago Nikon newsletter. We had guys trying to sell their 'daddy' bought lenses looking for "P" lenses! However I'm attaching a photo of the internal box that contains the cords, charger etc. It has a sticker indicating USA on it. I have the good/bad habit of keeping boxes. I even had all the plastic wrappers, which will be shipped to the new owner.
