Our church needs to upgrade our overhead projector. I've done some looking on B & H. Looking for your thoughts on best brands and quality. We use for videos, PowerPoints, etc.
Thanks in advance everyone!

What is your budget?

If budget is not a problem consider this Sony.

And, how dark will the room be when using the projector? Anyone contemplating shooting the videos in 4K?

That looks like a very nice one, but I'm afraid it is over our budget. I do appreciate the information anyway!!
Thanks again!

We usually turn down most the lights when viewing. the videos are usually stuff found on U-Tube, so I doubt the quality is that good.

Thanks for the response!!

Don't forget to consider your physical setup. If you are projecting from the rear of the sanctuary, you will need a projector with a much "longer throw" lens than is available on most popularly priced projectors. This increases the price considerably.

Also, unless your sanctuary is really large, you might consider a large LCD display or two as an alternative. Much lower power consumption, much longer life, no ongoing expenses for repkacement lamps, much less risk of a spontaneous failure that leaves you dead in the water as a service starts.

Check out the Optoma HD243X 1080p Projector - less than $500 on Amazon. I have an earlier model and it works great.

I am an AV contractor and we have installed lots of projectors at churches.
Panasonic, DPI ( Digital Projector International) and Barco are three of the best companies when buying a projector.

Make sure you get the correct lens for the screen. You need to know the size of the screen as well as the throw distance.

I beat BH everyday when it comes to projector pricing. Partly due to helping churches is kind of a ministry to me.

Feel free to write me privately with your phone number. If I can’t help you I’ll point you in the right direction.

Buy a 16:9 ratio laser projector and screen. The pictures are some of my larger projects but I work with all size churches. I have two Panasonic projector bringing installed this week at first United Methodist Church Ocala Florida.

$1500 is go with a Vivitek laser. Vivitek makes projectors for many projector companies. If your open to B-Stock I can get that as well.

Best to contact a AV Speciality Company to come and to access your needs. They can scope the space for best acoustics, and should be able to provide suggestions to suit your current and future needs. We use portable Epson PowerLite L610 that are simply workhorses. In main hall the AV company setup Sony monitors, screens, and projectors. But it all comes down to budget. The newest Laser projectors from Epson start at $2300, and are very solid units.

My engineer and I would be willing to talk to you if you want to talk. Obviously would be at no charge and we together have worked on literally hundreds of churches of all sizes. Our company is one of the top church integration companies in the state of Florida.
