raptor hunts at dusk
cruel and cold with yearning eyes
and winter hunger
A strong message in both your words and art: the sometimes terrible beauty of the laws of nature. Thanks so much for a thought-provoking post, Piet.
thanks for your encouragement Linda -

that's a great shot of the raptor closing in on his prey,
and the narative fits perfectly.
Great use of textures and a really nice composition.

I like this. A lot!
thank you Retired CPO - I do too. The image has it's problems, but I like the pose and the light and colors and that is my favorite bird for it's sense of "harpy".
Another demonstration that an interesting shot and your skilled post processing can produce a finished project that is more than of the sum of its parts.
I wasn't going to add to the already listed fine features, the composition and processing (with which I strongly agree), but I did want to draw attention to the interesting and effective use of "negative space" and to the fact that the words constitute a nicely done haiku. Excellent!
Wow! What a post, Piet, and I'm always amazed by your incredible talent...and I'd encourage everyone to take a look at your website. Just finished looking...again...and it's hard to leave the page. I have a question..do you use textures, color-grading or both to achieve the beautiful color in your images?
