Photoshop & iMac

I've got an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) running macOS Mojave ver 10.14.6. I was advised a while back that updating that operating system could jeopardize running my Photoshop 2020 (I never use the Lightroom systems that come with Photoshop). My question is, is it safe to update now, or are there still problems between the newer macOS and Photoshop (and/or Bridge)?

Sam,
I have the same iMac, and have not had a problem with PS, LR or BR. I have been updating all OS and CC updates without a problem, from Mojave on up to Catalina...

I have the same setup. Catalina works fine. No problems at all.

Good Question. I have an iMac 27. Asked for repairs under their Apple Care Program. Had some difficulty since they said the program only deals with "hardware" and the problem appeared to be software. Took it to another firm that Apple authorizes to service. They said they could not pin point it, so they sent it to Kentucky (from FL) for evaluation and repair. It came back but they were not satisfied, so they said they would do a software repair....translated, they just remove most its software, including major Adobe, which I thought was working, but its removal was just part of the package. Hasn't worked right since but did not have any trouble with the new OS Catalina. So for me its a matter of starting over and I probably should have gone to he Mom and Pop repair facility where the techs. appear more experience...thats my experience.

Just called Adobe support and found that LR CC Classic will not tether with my Canon 80D. It is a know issue to Adobe and they are working to correct. I am running iOS 10.15.2 with the latest version of LR CC Classic.

I recently updated my iMac with a SSD and updated to Catalina at the same time without any problems. I had heard of others having problems with PS running with Catalina as well and was somewhat hesitant but luckily it works fine.

As far as I know it's all right now. I too use MAC, but a laptop and I updated to Catalina a long time ago. I also use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. If in doubt, you can call Adobe.

Formerly concerned by cautions about upgrading to Catalina, I waited a bit before doing so, and also updated to Ps 2020. Then recently went to Catalina on my 2013 27" iMac. Seamless for me.

I was just working on my MacBook Pro in Photoshop and it was giving a problem with some tools. I called Adobe and they had to give permissions, all fixed in just a few minutes. If you have a problem call Adobe Help Line.

I have a 27 in iMac with Sierra. I have had problems in the past with upgrading the operating system on two Macs that I had and the problems were directly caused by upgrading the operating system. The problem caused by the upgrade was a corruption in the printing dialogue box of photoshop and the problem could not be corrected, once the problem was on the computer it could not be gotten rid of. On the first computer, a Mac Pro I actually had to replace the main drive of the computer and reload all of the operating systems, a real pain. The second time was when I first got my iMac #1 and I made the mistake of upgrading the operating system on the new I Mac with the same result. Photoshop was again corrupted in the same way. To make a long story short the people at the local Apple Store ended up giving me a new iMac because after doing all their testing they also could not get the Photoshop system to work properly and they admitted that it was a result of doing the upgrade and so they HAD to give me another computer. The people at Apple told me to NEVER do an upgrade because of this issue and I will not do an upgrade. It is common knowledge that upgrading can cause problems in photoshop sometimes.

Wow you got a new computer for your troubles, maybe it was worth it. I have a laptop, I always upgrade and as for the Adobe Products like Photoshop, Lightroom, etc, I call Adobe and they fix the problem immediately. They are aware of the Apple update but I guess they can't update Adobe apps for whatever the reason. The said I needed my permissions changed, they did it 1, 2, 3 and now no trouble. I always call Adobe help desk when I have a issue with any if their products that I use and they always help. Sorry for all your troubles, but at least Apple gave you a new computer.
