Rare and Ilusive

Some websites says this little Queen is somewhat rare and illusive, even in Florida. She (maybe) has been coming to our carport for several months. I have tried and tried to catch her where I could snap a photo of her. She loves to play on our pickups sideview mirrors looking at herself, then just as suddenly hops back up on the top of the mirror to see if all is well.
Today was one of those times when I sat in the doorway with my camera to my eye (I dont have a trail cam) waiting for the moment. Then it came. She did not see me for a split second and I snapped a couple before she flew away.
She is a beauty. I know I say that a lot. But she is. The photo is not clear but I am fortunate to have gotten this rare shot.
I am thinking she is a Serenity Spell. I searched and searched and as best as I can tell she is.

We found a nudibranch that hadn't been seen in thirty-five years. The next week, we found a mating pair and later one laying eggs. We now see them regularly.

From the Slug Site;
Thordisa rubescens , Behrens and Henderson 1981
This is a super rare find along the California coast. You can count the number of confirmed sightings on one hand. Interestingly it is not rare due to its size, as all of the observed specimens have been large, measuring up to 90 mm in length.

As the trivial name suggests, the body is bright red-orange. The notum is covered with numerous inflated, spiculose, papillae of various sizes and shapes. There is a scattering of gold flecks in a halo around the gill and around each rhinophore.

The radular morphology suggests it feed on sponges, but we have no information on this.

This photo was taken at the type locality, where we described the species originally, Palos Verdes, California.
