Inspired by the recent post of the $25 microscope objective, I thought that I would give it a try in my Frankenstein kind of way.
This is one of my several preserved Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs. I find them to be good subjects for experimenting and their eyes are so small that they are difficult to make out with the unaided eye.
For this arrangement I started with the $25 Finite Plan 4X Achromatic AmScope microscope objective. Because it is a 160mm finite objective, I mounted it on 150mm of extension tubes (the last 10mm is the objective itself). I then placed that arrangement on a 2X teleconverter with adapter fittings to mate to the Fujifilm X-mount camera flange.
Illumination is constant diffused LED IKEA desk lamps diffused with translucent drink cups covered with white paper towels. At this level of magnification in conjunction with flat depth of field the steps between shots was set at 5-microns to produce this 498 stack of images then processed in Zerene Stacker PMax method.
As always, thanks ever so much to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.
So would you say he is giving us the stink eye?
That is spectacular.
Mike
