We visited Kilkenny Castle in 2001. We got a very nice tour, but one thing apparently different is that they let you bring a camera into the castle. (I see you used a Canon Rebel T6s.) I had to check a camera and camcorder before walking in. I'm just curious about that.
Anyway, it's a wonderful place to visit, and the pictures bring back memories.
My memory is that the only told us not to use flash. That's common in old buildings, especially with old paintings and fabrics.

I never use flash. Even on low light indoor shots. I found that the camera takes care of that.

I've been to Ireland twice and England 8 times as a tourist on long vacations. I've encountered all levels of rules from absolutely no photography (recently in the Dumfries House in Scotland and also in Buckingham Palace a few years ago) to anything goes so long as you don't use a flash. The Durham Cathedral prohibited photography when I visited there, but I saw people sneaking pictures with cell phones, and no one said anything. I videotaped every inch of the interior of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin in 2001.
I was just curious. Thanks for the memory.
I think the number of cel phone cameras these days makes enforcing no photo rules makes them impossible to enforce... everybody has one, everybody tries to sneak a few shots... you can't kick everybody out.
I was at the Castle in June. There was no problem taking in a camera. I don’t know if there was a ban on flash. I never use it in such places, anyway. Now, in catacombs, art galleries and the like there are always restrictions of one sort or another. I get that, no problem.
Excellent set of captures
