Desperately Waiting for June

With another day into the recent cold snap with nothing much to do other than pick up frozen dog poop and bust the ice on their water bowl (they are strictly house dogs and they hate it out there too), I staged one of my smaller preserved June Bugs for a focus stacking session with hopes for June to come.

They are in abundance when spring arrives and I catch them along with other insects by placing a white sheet on the fence at night and shining a large worklight on it.

As always, thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

Perhaps fortunately for me I am being kept busy picking thru last years' photos, and then there is work and work is interesting.
On slightly warmer days that permit time outdoors, one can find insects and other arthropods in the leaf litter, under bark, and under logs. Nothing colorful, but alive and possibly different.

Mark, all I knew before retirement was my work and my associates for I had been with them for the past 35-years as my last place of employment. Now macro/micro photography is the boss of me and my better half just gives me that "you're crazy" look when she sees me now.

When the cold snap breaks I'll take a walk in my favorite trails in woods with my little rake in hand. There's always something to be discovered there under the deadfall and the thick bed of leaves in the stands of hardwoods.
