I posted some shots of this same animal a while back. This time I decided to get up close and friendly. The most dangerous part of a Goanna is the claws. They are generally very docile and can be a nuisance around the campsite where they scavenge for food. This fellow is around two metres.
Very interesting. Like the color and details captured. Mahalo for sharing.

Fabulous!!
Thanks.
I tried the second shot as B/W. Would appreciate comments, good and bad.
Two meters, yikes! I would have thought just a few inches. Good photography!
Great shots I like the bw alot
Wow, 2 meters!! I thought we had campsite problems with raccoons and skunks.
I particularly like the second shot, where the color models the form of the lizard and adds visual interest. I notice that the B/W version looks flat in comparison. I think the best B/W conversions all have two qualities. They have lots of contrast, which this shot has, and grey scale gradation between black and white to model form and add depth.
Your shots show him to be very attractive but not something I would want to hang around with!
