sulky looking.......never appealed to me..............his voice was pleasant, but his looks.........NO!
The country boy from Mississippi did good though. I never saw him live in concert. But, I bought many of his 45rpm records. I still remember the RCA record labels. As, many great musical greats, drugs got the best of him. And the drugs won.

I saw him live in Las Vegas in 1970. He was at the peak of his power then. All the women in our groups swooned over him. We had ringside seats because one member of our group's uncle owned Circus Circus casino. When he threw his neckerchief into the audience, my friend's wife caught it. He was an amazing entertainer.
Used to ride 10 miles on my bike to see his films I adored him then he was a one off

Yes, he certainly was, but he let the wrong people run his life.

So very true of a lot of rock and roll people.
The Colonel got about half of his earnings while he was rising as a Rock Star. When, reporters asked Elvis about it. He said, if it wasn't for the Colonel, I would never have been the Star that I am. I don't know how Elvis got into drugs. It sometimes can start with drugs, that keep you awake and alert. Then other drugs follow.

Wink Martindale?
Wink Martindale was a D.J. on radio station KFWB in the 1960's and was also the host of several network game shows.
I had lunch with Wink a few months ago and he looks good... but he sounds fantastic! You’d swear he was 30 if you listened to him speak. Wonderful guy. Great stories.

Is this the "Wink Martindale" that recorded "The Deck Of Cards."? How old is he now. Thanks.

It was a good thing that Elvis ended up in the Army. After his entry, he was sent to the dental clinic for a general assessment. Turn out bad, it seemed Elvis told the Lt. Colonial that he did not own a tooth brush, the doctor proceeded to show him how to brush his teeth and told his sergeant to see that he did it three times a day or the sarg would be held responsible.
So Elvis got his teeth brushed through out boot camp and that saved his teeth. That Colonial had no idea who this guy Private Presley was until he left and one of the other younger dentists explained it to the Colonial, amazing how Joe was so out of touch! But he was sure to tell his wife all about it when I got home that night and all of us, his 6 kids. Joe Summa was my father.
I still love listening to Elvis. to me he was the most handsome man I've ever seen.
