This is the business end of my preserved Fire Colored Beetle larva. If it were to munch on you, this is what you would see chewing away. This is a focus stacked image taken with my most often used camera and lighting setup that I have shared many times before. This image is composed from a 200 image stack and processed into this single image in Zerene Stacker.
As always, thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.
What would you say are the dimensions of the head?

Oh my, this creature is quite different from most others that I have. It is very flat, almost paper thin. The entire length is slightly over an inch and the "head" is about the size of a capital letter in this message. The rig that I used with reverse mounted lenses mounted in series on extension tubes results in 8-power magnification range.

Mike, here's what the other end of the Fire Colored Beetle larva looks like. It's tail mimics a head so that a predator gets misguided giving it a chance to get away. Evolution is simply amazing..!
