Pre camera days, I would go to Epcot or whatever, spend a day to fulfill my family obligation,then I roamed, collected plants, reptiles and insects, etc. Saved money and had a more enjoyable time alone.
Oh, for a camera in those days.

Going out with fellow 'buggy' camera bugs is fun in its own way, since you would share the common interest. The friendly chatter, the fact that there are extra eyes scanning and probing for insects. I have a friend here and we do this as often as he can get away. Our running joke is to learn who's eyes spotted the Most Important Find that day, and often enough it is my friend who did that.
Vacationing with family for me is in part a matter of 'escaping' while they do touristy things.

Ha! My wife and I do that with plants. She occasionally reminds me that it was she who first spotted Heart-leaved Arnica a few years back.
I think we need you to be down there taking photographs of interesting critters for us!

Oh Mark, that is ever so tempting and the fellows putting it on are considered to be the "best of the best" so I'm sure that anyone that goes will get expert guidance and comeback with an improved skillset.
