The copyright info should be attached to the file in the camera. Once it is in metadata, you can use it to create a watermark. However, this begs the question - what are you hoping to accomplish with this? Copyright registration is the best way to establish ownership, and completely defensible in court, should it come to that. If you are just using a watermark to deter casual theft, then be aware that any computer-savvy middle schooler can restore the image without the watermark. Just sayin'
