"Mr. Esper acknowledged that striking cultural sites with no military value would be a war crime, putting him at odds with the president, who insisted such places would be legitimate target."

" Updated 5:55 a.m. ET, January 8, 2020:

Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two Iraqi military bases housing US troops. It comes days after President Donald Trump ordered a strike that killed Iran's top general. "

"American officials said today that there were no immediate indications of deaths or injuries to U.S. personnel after Iran hit two military bases in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials later said that there were also no Iraqi casualties. The attacks involved more than 20 ballistic missiles.

Tehran called the strikes “fierce revenge” for last week’s killing of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, a top commander. The Iranian foreign minister later said the attacks were “concluded” and that his country didn’t seek “escalation or war.”

President Trump struck an upbeat tone, writing on Twitter, “All is well!” "

We can hope that Trump sees that this was a face saving response from Iran and he doesn't escalate the hostilities.

Then please explain where Trump advocated 'striking cultural sites with no military value' as your source claims.

"The president repeated the threat Sunday on Air Force One, saying, “They’re allowed to kill our people, they’re allowed to torture and maim our people … and we’re not allowed to touch their cultural site? It doesn’t work that way.”"

When Trump was told it was against the law to strike the cultural sites he decided against it

It wasn't even that.

The OP claimed that Trump wanted to bomb such sites that held no military value.

The implication being that Trump wanted to bomb these sites just for shiites and giggles.

The reality is that Trump was clearly talking about when such sites are used as launch points for military/terrorist attacks and/or hiding places.

The further reality is that the left would prefer dead soldiers and citizens rather than return fire on a mosque.

Why does the left always side with evil?

What do you think the 'Iranian culture' that Trump spoke about in his tweet meant.

I know that you Trumpsplainers try to white wash his words; but the whole world listens to what he says and what the President of the United States says and he should get his head out of his rear end.

I suspect it was a warning to no longer use them for attacks or hideouts.

It is truly moronic to believe otherwise, why would any POTUS use the US military to fire upon targets of no military value? I suspect you would be hard pressed to find a field commander who would follow such an order should it be issued?

Read the UCMJ for enlightenment.
