Travel to Barrow and Nome in early June

My wife and I are planning a mainly self-guided trip to Barrow and Nome in early June. We may look for local bird guides to help out. Does anyone have observations, insights, names of guides, possible accommodations, or any other thoughts that might be useful in the planning? Thanks so much.
