New iMac

Is there a setting on the new iMac to lengthen the time before it goes to sleep

I don't have a new Mac but I have the latest OS loaded so this should work.
Look at System Preferences under the Apple menu. Then select Energy Saver. (the light bulb icon on the 4th row) You will have several options.

Yes, Click on the apple on the top left of the screen. Then click system preference . Then click the energy saver, light bulb. Change you settings . Thats it.

Dale, you set up a lot of the things in a Mac using Preferences. The icon looks like the one below, or as someone said, go to the Apple menu. I think the Apple store may give classes? It would benefit you to take one or more of them if they do and you can get there. The system is different from that of a PC but very simple when you get the hang of it. I've been on a Mac for 35 years.

Thanks I had heard they did have classes but it is a four hour round trip for me

Might be worth an overnight, it would most likely save you a lot of future trouble and get you up and operating more quickly. Just my thought on it.

You can also set the time before the screensaver comes on. System Preferences / Desktop and Screensaver

Click little Apple in upper left corner of screen
System Preferences...
Energy Saver (bottom row or next to bottom row on Sys Pref main screen)
