This is a Scarab which is a Green Fig Beetle that was sent by Bill (newtoyou) for my focus stacking sessions.
It is my second attempt of shooting the subject on a white background on a white background which is a piece of white paper bent in a long gentle curve upward and the subject set on the flat portion in front of the camera.
The camera and lens setup is typical to what I have described in previous posts and illumination is diffused LED lamps. This session consists of 194 images set at a distance of 50-microns each and processed in Zerene Stacker using only the PMax method.
As always, thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.
That's REALLY nice! Just info -- you can relax insects in a jar with wet tissue in the bottom in a day or two, and then pull the legs out and re-dry them to put them in the photo. Just put them on a piece of foil to keep from soaking them, which might change the colors or reflectivity.

Thanks for the info. I'm still finding my way with preserving and staging insects. I'm having some luck storing them in denatured alcohol although that doesn't work well with fuzzy or hairy insects. My dry preservation attempts have not worked out so well. I've tried freezing and refrigerating with a bit of success. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
