Stag Beetle Male on White Background

This is my preserved male Stag Beetle that I found inside our RV while camping in Tennessee this past summer.

This experiment was to create a white background by using a piece of white paper gently curved upward with the beetle set on the flat section of the paper before the camera. It is a focus stacked image consisting of 312 images processed in Zerene Stacker with PMax method only.

The camera, lens and lighting setup are the same that I described in recent posts.

As always, thanks in advance to all those who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

Thanks Mark, I always look forward to your feedback. I'm simply passing time by experimenting. This was my first attempt at this white background technique and I've got some learning to do with it. There was an extreme contrast between the dark beetle and the white so the camera settings where a challenge.

The beetle looked very dark on the Live View and it was difficult to see where focus was and where it wasn't which is why I missed the focus on the far points like the legs. It also looks a bit weird blue when missed on white compared to when on black.

All in all, it's the joy of the pursuit and sharing.

Napabob, this is a wonderful organization and your are doing good work by being part of it and I can see how it benefits so many in need.

I'm a advocate of converting cargo containers into donated or emergency housing. They can be had used for as little as $2000 and easily converted to a liveable space. They are a great solution for disaster relief where with little expense they can be made into a portable home and quickly build a community. Other containers can be converted to community latrines, bath houses and laundries to serve many families. Security offices and medical clinics made from them can also be part of the community quickly. They are made to transport and are rugged and waterproof. Add some windows and doors, insulate the walls and ceiling and put down flooring and it is fit for a small family to live comfortably.

Wiring with a twist-lock connection feeding a breaker box, receptacles and lights. Room dividers can be heavy drawn curtains to provide some sleeping privacy.
