What suggestions do you have for a February trip to a warm weather location? Prefer east coast. Main purposes are: 1) nature photography and 2) staying warm. Thank you!

Given that even Washington DC can have February snowstorms, definitely go south of there

Check with these UHH users about birds and nature photography in Florida:

The Florida Panhandle can get a little chilly, but for the most part it's warm. The further south you go in Florida, the milder the winter and greater chance of getting your wildlife fix. Somewhere around everglades possibly?

Please define "Staying Warm".
I live in the DC Area, for me Staying Warm in Feb would be temps in the 50's. For Floridians temps in the 60's is cold.

Maybe he needs to go all the way to Key West?

I remember more than one February Florida vacation spoiled for Mainiacs due to unseasonably cold weather. You don't leave Maine in February to endure rain and 60's when you want to be getting a sun tan on the beach!

Where does our OP live, btw?

Our east coast is warm to very hot (Max 85F and minimums 75F and humid (it's the "wet season")), depending how far north (Cairns?) you go.
Even down here in Sydney (Australia) you can expect maximums of 80F and lows of 67F

Today, where I live, we are expecting it to max out at 113F (45C).

I would (and do) go to South Florida and definitely include the Everglades. Google: Everglades National Park, Anhinga Trail, Shark Valley, Loop Road, Big Cypress, Everglade City and the spots Linda has listed. February is good time to go; nice weather and lots of birds but it’s peak tourist season so arrange lodging well in advance. Good Luck, Jeff

Florida west coast. Sanibel (mentioned previously) and the general Ft. Myers area, Naples and Everglades, Sarasota and Venice all have great birding spots. Although it gets crowded in season, most people feel that the west coast of FL is more laid back than the east coast.

Come On Down!
