Looking for the best beginner's Lightroom demo

The subject of photo software keeps coming up here on UHH. I spent some time yesterday trying to find the perfect YouTube to demo the basics of Lightroom Classic.

I want to see a YouTube that (1) Imports an image or two, (2) opens one of them in the Develop module, (3) shows some basic exposure and contrast adjustment and (4) Exports a finished JPEG. It could also explain how the originals remain untouched.

Total time should be about 3 minutes!

For a beginner, everything else can be dealt with later.

Does anyone know of such a video?

Yes, Anthony is very good. His quick start to Classic is 3/4 of an hour! That's not very quick!

I might. I have the tools, but it can be quicker to find one on YouTube.

Phlearn.com also has free YouTube instructional videos on Lightroom, as well as just about anything else.

Phlearn, Morganti and Adobe all have high quality, thorough training videos. One of the advantages of the Adobe apps is that there are so many learning resources.

What I'm looking for is something short and sweet that shows a newbie with no knowledge, why Lightroom Classic is so much fun.

Why do you want to use Lightroom in the first place? What are you currently using? There is no short and sweet way to learn Lightroom. It also is not fun when you can’t find your imported images. It is a great cataloging and photo editing software package and if you want to use it based on reviews or input from other photographers, you need to put in the time and effort to at least learn the basics. If you don’t have the time or desire to go through the learning curve, look for something more basic.

Anthony Morganti. Longer than 3 minutes but can be watched 1 tutorial at a time.

I'm not much of a video user, but I highly recommend reading the Help manual found online at Adobe; anything relative to the Library Module prior to beginning to use the program. This will save you hours of frustration as you begin to use the program. The Library Module is sort of the "brains" of the application and understanding it is primary to enjoying the use of the program.

I agree. I started with Lightroom 4 and carefully followed Julieanne Kost's lessons. A major problem comes up over misunderstanding what is "in" Lightroom Classic. The word "Import" doesn't help. It should be "Register". It can be worse for Apple users because somehow Photos does put the images inside the program. When they transition to Classic, they assume some of it works the same.

My point in looking for the two minute introduction is to answer the repeated question of "Which video editing software should I use, start with, learn, try or buy?"

Nothing is "in" LR. It's that simple. LR is an application that includes a data base for organization. Your images only "link" to the LR application. Go to Preferences in Photo and click on what you need to in order that the programs does not load images. I am a Mac user and I never have this problem. I use both programs for different types of images. Neither program loads automatically, I have to instruct the computer. Here is a link to the help guide on Adobe if you are interested.

Connie,

You are misinterpreting my question. I know Lightroom Classic very well. I know how the database links work.

My question/purpose of this post is to seek help finding an excellent two or three minute demo of what Lightroom Classic does.
